Hello Friends… It’s color challenge time again! Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge CC818 is being hosted by Jeanne this week, she’s selected some pretty ‘sweet colors’, Cinnamon Cider, Real Red, and Purple Posy, with the desert option, ‘GingerBread’! This challenge evoked some deep thinking as Stampin’ Up doesn’t currently carry stamp images directly related to gingerbread… or should I say, YET! With this being said, yes, Stampin’ Up’ has reported in November’s Paper Pumpkin it will be featuring ‘Gingerbread’. It’s unfortunate that November’s Paper Pumpkin will not arrive in time to use it for this weeks challenge. So my friends, heads up for later this week when I create an alternative design using Novembers Paper Pumpkin gingerbread!

The house pattern was created by folding a sheet of copy paper multiple times and transferring the dimensions to a 4 1/4 x 11 Cinnamon Cider cardstock. Mark, score, and fold on the blue dotted lines as shown in the diagram below.

This card features two stamp sets, ‘Itty Bitty Christmas’ and ‘Sweetest Times’. The candy discs from ‘Sweetest Time’ were stamped in Highland Heather ink on Purple Posy cardstock and Real Red on Whisper White. Each candy disc was punched using a 1/2″ circle punch, covered with ‘Shimmery Crystal Effects’ and sprinkled with a dab of ‘Dazzling Diamonds’ (retired), The illustration below provides a visual for what dies were used to create the details of the house. Note: The outside edges of the scallop die were used for the eaves and top edge of the chimney. Please excuse my error as I left the chimney out of the diagram, it can be created by using the smallest die from ‘Hippo & Friends’.

I chuckled to myself when I blew this picture up for a closer look, my thinking was ‘Oh My’, I’m glad you can’t see the imperfections in real life, as this is actually a only a 1″ frame, my gingerbread girl, her head and body are 1/2″ circle punches, her hands are 1/4″ circles.

The inside of the card has been finished with stamping the sentiment in Real Red ink and adding a Purple Posy candy embellishment along with a yummy Real Red candy cane.
