Hello Friends… I’ve been a busy girl this week just returning from a fast trip to Arizona to see family. Happy to be back in my comfort zone, the ‘She Shed Tornado Shelter’!
I’m sharing a card today that has multiple layers. When looking straight on, it’s appearance is a little deceiving, as the first layer is a Window Sheet followed by two additional cardstock layers. Check the photos below to see how each layer progresses to the next. Note of humor: the moose on the card front is seeking his friend on the right! LOL!
Th picture below illustrates what the first layer looks like opened!
Instructions for the first layer: Cut a card base measuring 8 x 9 1/4 from Whisper White cardstock, score at 4″. On the card front measure in (and mark) from both outside edges in 1 7/8, cut on the marked line from the center score line out, leaving two panels with an open ‘span’ between the two panels. Cut (2) 1 3/4 x 3 7/8 Soft Suede panels, emboss both panels using the ‘Wrapped in Texture’ embossing folder. Cut a 4 x 9 1/4 acetate, Window Sheet. Adhere the Window Sheet to the Whisper White side panels that measure 1 7/8 x 4 (do not worry about the glue showing behind the window sheet). Adhere the (2) embossed 1 3/4 x 3 7/8 Soft Suede panels over the glued area on each side panel.
Instructions for the second layer: Cut a 4 x 5 1/2 Pretty Peacock panel and adhere it to the center Whisper White flap measuring 4 x 5 1/2. Use the die with the diagonal lines from the Best Plaid Builder set, die cut a 4 x 5 1/2 Whisper White panel, adhere to the Pretty Peacock. Use the grid die from the Best Plaid Builder die set, die cut a 4 x 5 1/2 Bumble Bee panel. Adhere the Bumble Bee grid on top of the previous two panels to create the plaid look.
Cut a 2 7/8 x 4 1/8 Pretty Peacock matte. Cut a 2 5/8 x 3 7/8 Bumble Bee matte. Layer and adhere the two panels.
Cut a 2 1/2 x 3 3/4 Whisper White panel. Stamp the mountain scene using Pretty Peacock, Bumble Bee, and Shaded Spruce ink. Adhere the panel to the combined mattes. Center and adhere to the plaid background.
Instructions for the third layer: Open the card completely to expose the 4 x 9 1/4 Whisper White blank panel. Cut two additional 1 3/4 x 3 7/8 Soft Suede panels, adhere both to the outside edges of the card base. Use the tree die from Majestic Mountain Dies to cut two pines trees from Shaded Spruce cardstock. Note: One of the trees had the lower branches trimmed to make it shorter. Adhere the both trees the left side of the open space.
Instructions for finishing the first layer: Stamp one moose from the Merry Moose stamp set onto a piece of Soft Suede cardstock using Early Espresso ink. Use the Moose Punch to punch the stamped moose including an additional moose that’s not been stamped. With the card totally closed with the window sheet laid flat, adhere the stamped moose to the window sheet. Flip the window sheet open and adhere the second moose over the glued area to provide a clean inside look when the panel is open.
Cut (2) 1/2 x 2 1/8 Soft Suede mattes. Cut one 3/8 x 2 Whisper White panel, stamp the sentiment from Field of Flowers in Early Espresso ink. Adhere the sentiment to one of the 1/2 x 2 1/8 Soft Suede mattes, adhere to the right of the walking moose on the window sheet front. Flip the window sheet open and adhere the second matte over the glued area to provide a clean inside look when the panel is open.
