Hello Friends… Karen, the hostess this week for Splitcoaststampers Tuesday’s Color Challenge #CC807 has selected Highland Heather, Rococo Rose, and Pear Pizzazz with the dessert option ‘the last rose of summer’. With that being said, today’s card features all the above in addition to using stencils! I love using stencils, you might ask why? Often times, the color I’m needing isn’t in my designer paper stash, but with the use of a stencil, I can easily create my own ‘specialty’ paper, lickety split! This card features two patterns I’ve combined into today’s design! Check it out, If you’ve not played with stencils, put it on your To-Do List!
Sponge Rococo Rose and Highland Heather ink on a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Whisper White panel using the filigree stencil from ‘Basic Pattern Decorative Masks’. Use a paper trimmer to cut a 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 rectangle from of the center of the sponged panel, leave the outside frame in tack, do not cut through the outside frame as you’re going to use the frame for the inside of the card. Should you be need a visual on what I’m talking about, scroll down to the card’s inside picture and view the frame on the inside.
Trim the sponged Whisper White panel from 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 to 3 1/8 x 4 1/4. To cut the triangles, use the paper trimmer and cut the panel at a diagonal starting at the top right corner cutting toward the lower left corner. Cut a 3 3/8 x 4 3/4 Pear Pizzazz, repeat the diagonal cutting process as before, this will create a matte for each of the sponged triangles. Adhere the sponged triangles to it’s corresponding matte.
Cut a 4 x 5 1/4 Highland Heather matte. NOTE: To find a reference point for the sentiment, place the triangle pieces on the Highland Heather and lightly pencil in the space available for stamping. If you’re using the same stamp as shown (Ornate Thanks) the stamps must be stamped as close to the outer of edge as possible, it’s a tight fit making enough room for the triangle in the center. Stamp the sentiment in Versamark ink and heat emboss using White embossing powder.
Adhere both pair of triangles to the card front.
Cut a 1 7/8 x 1 7/8 square from Whisper White. Use painters tape to mask off the the polka-a-dot stencil from the ‘Basic Pattern Decorative Masks’ like the picture below. Sponge the triangle of dots in Rococo Rose ink.
On a Whisper White scrap stamp one single rose and one set of the double roses from the stamp set ‘Dressed to Impress’ in Memento Black ink. Color the roses using Stampin’ Blends, Highland Heather and the leaves with a Stampin’ Write marker in Pear Pizzazz. Die cut the roses using their matching dies.. Arrange your rose bouquet on the 1 7/8 x 1 7/8 Whisper White square making sure the square is positioned as a triangle before adhering them down with dimensionals.
Cut a 2 x 2 Highland Heather square. Cut a 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 Pear Pizzazz square. Stack and adhere the three squares (now triangles) together. Adhere the combined triangles in the open space on the card front using dimensionals.
Adhere the saved frame from the front to the inside of the card. Cut a 3 3/4 x 5 1/4 Highland Heather panel. Stamp a rose using Black Memento ink in the lower left corner, color the rose with the same coloring supplies used on the front of the card. Adhere the panel to the open space inside the card, it should fit perfectly.
For the finishing touch add three rhinestones to the rose centers on the front and one to the rose on the inside of the card.
