Hello Friends… It’s time for Splitcoaststampers Tuesday’s sketch challenge #CC806. Jeanne is our hostess this week and she has selected some really happy colors, So Saffron, Poppy Parade, and Pool Party, her fun dessert option was to include our choice of using stripes, dots, or checks. Tropical immediately came to mind when thinking of these colors… I guess another reason my mind drifted in the direction of tropical is my husband and I had reservations for almost year to vacation in Hawaii for 13 days, however, due to COVID, like everyone else our vacation was cancelled. Ugh! With that being said, I’m not ready for summer to be over, so creating this card is my way of hanging on a little tighter to the ending summer.
Here’s my take on this weeks challenge, with selecting stripes as my dessert option. I hunted through my stash of dsp to find a stripe that would work but found none to no avail! No worries… I’ll make my own. I cut all three colors in three widths, 1/4″, 3/8″, and 1/2″ and adhered them randomly to a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Whisper White panel. Trim the tails protruding from each end of the panel, voila, you’ve made your own designer paper
Cut a Crumb Cake card base measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4. Fold and burnish the card’s edge.
Evenly space the three largest rectangle dies from the ‘Stitched Rectangles’ on the striped cardstock and run through the cutter machine. This will create two frames and a center rectangle. Adhere the largest frame and the center rectangle to the card base front. Save the smaller frame for the inside of the card.
Select the two largest oval dies from ‘Hippo and Friends’ die set. Cut a Poppy Parade oval using the largest oval die and a Crumb Cake oval using the second from the largest die.
Stamp the sentiment from ‘Forever Fern’ in Early Espresso ink on the Crumb Cake oval. Adhere the Crumb Cake oval to the Poppy Parade oval and adhere both to the center front of the card base.
Stamp the flower and pineapple from the ‘Timeless Tropical’ stamp set in Crumb Cake on Whisper White cardstock. Color the flower and pineapple using So Saffron, Poppy Parade, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends. Use the matching dies to cut both out. Adhere both, the flower and the pineapple to the lower portion of the Crumb Cake oval using dimensionals.
Tie a bow using the Real Red 3/8″ Sheer Ribbon and adhere it to the top of the Crumb Cake oval using a glue dot.
Adhere the saved frame to the inside of the card. Stamp and die cut two pineapples, one in Poppy Parade and the other in So Saffron on their coordinating cardstock colors. Adhere both pineapples to the inside of the card on the lower right corner of the rectangle.
