Hello Friends… The ‘She Shed Tornado Shelter’ is popping with sunflowers seeds! I love living in Kansas! Early summer you can gaze at the wheat fields swaying in all their splendor in the country breeze. All the while, the fields in last summer, early fall are filled with sunflower stalks standing tall in all their glory with their heads bent towards the sun! Both are beautiful in there own right, they truly are a sight to see! I guess the ole’ country girl is coming out in me today, ironically the song ‘Country Road Take Me Home’ is playing on the radio as I’m writing this post.

Mary from Splitcoaststampers is our hostess for this week’s Color Challenge, CC805, she’s selected Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, and Early Espresso, with the desert option of adding sunflowers and/or our favorite green. This was an easy one for me as I love my sunflower stamp sets, not to mention, the Sunflower is Kansas’ state flower.

It’s funny… the cards I find my favorite don’t seem to do well online but then the ones I’m not thrilled about get rave reviews! So, I’m admitting this is one is one of my favorites… lets see what you think? (chuckle)

This is a tent fold card, with an Early Espresso base measuring 4 1/4 x 11, scored at 5 1/2. Cut a 4 x 5 1/4 Crumb Cake panel using the largest Stitched Rectangle die. Run a Classic White ink pad over one side of the Pinewood Plank embossing folder, emboss the Crumb Cake rectangle by running it through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine. Adhere panel to the card base front.

Die cut a 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 Early Espresso panel using the third and fourth largest rectangle dies from the Stitched Rectangle die set. Center and adhere the frame to the center of the card base front.

Stamp the sentiment from ‘Flowering Blooms’ in Versamark ink on a 1/2 x 3 7/8 strip of Early Espresso, heat emboss using White embossing powder. Adhere the sentiment 1/4″ from the bottom of the Early Espresso frame using dimensionals.

Die cut ‘two’ sunflowers from a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Early Espresso panel using the outline die from the Sunflower Dies. Adhere one of the sunflowers close to the top inside the Early Espresso frame on the card front.

Stamp sunflower image from the stamp set ‘Jars of Flowers’ and stamp on 3 x 3 Whisper White using Crumb Cake ink. Color in the image using Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers. Hand cut the image and adhere to the left side of the sunflower using dimensionals.

Tie a bow using the 3/8″ Embroidered Ribbon, adhere to the bottom of the sunflower bouquet with a glue dot for the finishing touch.

Here’s a look of how I finished the inside of the card. Embellish the corner of a 4 x 5 1/4 Crumb Cake panel by adhering the second sunflower where it hangs beyond the corners edge, then trimming off the excess. Adhere the panel to the inside of the card.
