Hello Friends… The roof is raising with excitement in the ‘She Shed Tornado Shelter’ today! If I may toot my own horn without coming across as bragging, I’ve met one of my personal goals, yippee! I’ve been honored in being asked to be one of the six Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge Hostess’ for next five months. I go by the surname/avatar on Splitcoaststamper, n2scrappin, years ago when I first became a member it wasn’t common to use your name, if I had the chance to do it again, I’d just use my name. So with that being said, should you want to take a visit to Splitcoaststampers website, I’m known as n2scrappin.
Along with this week’s color challenge colors, this Dollar Tree easel was inspiration for today’s project. I’ve got three grade school grandchildren whom in ‘my thoughts’ would probably want to give this to one of their teachers. However, during the process of creationing my daughter came to visit. I asked if she thought her daughter would like to take it to her teacher, I chuckled when she said, “I’m a teacher, I’d like it to sit on my desk”! Silly me, it never occurred to me to ask my her who’s a high school history teacher. Goes to show it’s not a requirement to have grade school children/grandchildren to find someone who’d appreciate this sitting on their desk.
The Color Challenge for this week is CC803 using the colors… Crumb Cake, Real Red, and Whisper White with the dessert option of having three layers.
Start by embossing a 3 x 3 1/2 piece of Crumb Cake using the ‘Pinewood Planks’ embossing folder. Add color to the embossing piece by running the Crumb Cake pad over the raised area of the panel. Fold the bottom of the panel up a 1/4″ inch to create a ledge for the eraser to sit on. To create the eraser, cut a 3/4 x 3/4 square in Basic Black, score at 1/8, 3/8, 5/8, fold on score lines to create a small box. Use a white marker/pen to create a line on the eraser, adhere to the 1/4″ wood ledge, Stamp the frame from ‘Framed for You’ in Versa Mark ink on a 3 x 3 Whisper White square, heat emboss using White embossing powder. Die cut the frame using the two largest squares from the die set ‘Stitched Shapes’. For the black board, cut another large square from a piece of 3 x 3 Basic Black. Stamp the sentiment from ‘Harvest Hellos’ in Versa Mark ink in the upper left corner and heat emboss using White embossing powder. Use a Real Red Stampin’ Blend to color the A+. Adhere the Whisper White frame to the sentiment panel, then adhere the combined panels to the Crumb Cake background panel. Adhere to the upper left corner of the Dollar Tree easel. Stamp a jar onto a piece of Vellum Cardstock using StazOn ink. Use the ‘Jar Punch’ to cut it out. Create two pencils by cutting strips of Crumb Cake 1/4″ wide, color the eraser end with a Real Red Stampin’ Blend, and draw two lines using a white pen, giving the pencil a dimensional look. The other pencil was created by trimming the paper to a point and coloring the lead point with a Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend. Attach the jar and pencils to the lower right corner of the easel front. Stamp one full apple, three apple slices, and one leaf onto a 4 x 5 piece of watercolor paper using StazOn ink. Mix a dab of water with a couple of drops of ink in Real Red and Garden Green. Using a Water Painter, water color all the stamped images. Use the Crumb Cake Combo Stampin’ Blends to color in the apple seeds. Allow the watercolor images to dry and cut out using scissors and the ‘Apple Builder Punch’. Punch an apple stem from a scrap of Crumb Cake using the ‘Apple Builder Punch’, attach both the stem and leaf to the apple using a glue dot. Arrange and adhere apple slices on the easel front. Stack two dimensionals together for the full apple and adhere between the apple slices.

Thank you Deb… I really found it humorous that my daughter wanted it for her desk instead of her daughter giving it to her teacher! I’m thrilled you posted a comment! Your time and thoughtfulness is really appreciated!
