Positive Thoughts (Suite #1)

Hello Friends… It’s a beautiful day here in Tornado Alley and I’m in my ‘She Shed Tornado Shelter’ s stirring up some creativity! Lol!

I’m sharing with you my excitement in having been ask to design cards for a retreat in Texas. The cards were to feature ‘Positive Thoughts’ stamp set as each retreat attendee would be receiving the stamp set for free. I ended up creating a total of twelve cards categorizing them into three color suites. In addition to the stamp set ‘Positive Thoughts’ I also used the coordinating dies, Nature’s Thoughts’. I was elated on the reception I received from the ladies who attended and was ask for pictures, measurements and instructions for all the cards. With that being said, I’m going to ‘try’ to carry out their wishes. Here is Suite #1 of Positive Thoughts! The colors of this suite derived from a color challenge I was participating in, I hope you like my spin on the challenge. Thank you taking a look!

Positive Thoughts

(Bermuda Bay, Poppy Parade, & Flirty Flamingo)

Card 1

Measurements:

Card Base Bermuda Bay 11 x 4 ¼ score at 5 ½
Whisper White 4 x 5 ¼, Flirty Flamingo 3 ¾ x 5, Whisper White 3 x 4

Instructions:

Using Bermuda Bay ink stamp two leaf sprigs and butterfly on the 3 x 4 Whisper White. Color the center of the butterfly using Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends. Cut all the images out using the coordinating dies (should you not have the dies, hand cut).
Cover leaf sprigs and the center of butterfly with Shimmery Crystal Effects, lightly sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds over the top, allow to dry.
Run the Flirty Flamingo cardstock and the Power of Hope embossing folder through the Big Shot.
Using the 1 ¾ punch, punch three circles in the embossed panel.
Center the Flirty Flamingo punched panel over the top of the Whisper White and stamp the sentiment in the top circle using Bermuda Bay ink.
Fold the Bermuda Bay card base.
Using dimensionals adhere the Flirty Flamingo panel to the Whisper White panel, wrap ribbon around both panels and tie a knot. Adhere all to the card base.
Place and adhere the leaf sprigs in open punch holes.
Add the butterfly using a dimensional.
Embellish with three pearls for the finishing touch.

Whisper White Card Base 11 x 4 ¼ score at 5 ½
Flirty Flamingo 4 x 5 ¼, Birthday Bonanza DSP 3 ¾ x 5, Whisper White 1 x 5 ½ , Whisper White scrap, Bermuda Bay 3 x 3, Flirty Flamingo 3 x 3.

Instructions:

Using Poppy Parade ink, stamp three flowers on the 3 x 3 Flirty Flamingo, die cut all three.
Highlight the center of each flower by using the White Chalk Marker.
Stamp the butterfly on Whisper White scrap using Flirty Flamingo ink. Highlight the center of the butterfly using the Bermuda Bay Blends. Die cut butterfly, add Shimmery Crystal Effects to the center and lightly add Dazzling Diamonds, allow to dry.
Using the Flourish dies and the Whisper White strip, cut the long decorative strip.
Using the 2 ½ square from the dies Stitched Shapes, cut a Bermuda Bay square. Stamp sentiment in the upper right corner using Whisper White ink, heat emboss using White Embossing Powder.
Fold base card.
Adhere the Flirty Flamingo 4 x 5 ¼ to the front of card base.
Layer and adhere the DSP.
Adhere the Bermuda Bay square slightly to the upper left side of card front.
Adhere the Whisper White strip to the left side of square and add the butterfly using a mini dimensional.
Adhere your flowers to the right lower corner of square, do so by adhering the first flower directly to card base, add the other two flowers by using dimensionals.

Whisper White Card Base 11 x 4 ¼ score at 5 ½
Bermuda Bay 4 x 5 ¼, Bermuda Bay 3 ¾ x 3 ¾, Bermuda Bay 3 ¾ x 1 3/8, Whisper White 3 ¾ x 5, Whisper White 2 x 4, Whisper White 3 ¾ x 1/8, Birthday Bonanza DSP 7/8 x 3 ¾.

Instructions:

Stamp flower image randomly all over the Whisper White 3 ¾ x 5 using Poppy Parade ink.
Using the Flourish dies, die cut the long decorative strip leaving enough room on your paper for stamping the butterfly and sentiment.
Stamp the butterfly and sentiment in Bermuda Bay ink.
Add color to the butterfly’s center by using Poppy Parade Blends. Die cut the butterfly and add Shimmery Crystal Effects to the center of the butterfly, follow by lightly sprinkling Dazzling Diamonds, allow to dry.
Trim sentiment close to writing either by hand cutting or using your trimmer.
Assemble the sentiment panel by first cutting the long decorative strip in half, adhere to the back outside edges of the dsp leaving a scallop on each side. Adhere the 1/8 strip of Whisper White across the center of the dsp. Adhere the combined pieces to the 1 3/8 x 3 ¾ Bermuda Bay. Using dimensionals adhere the trimmed sentiment to the center of the completed panel.
Fold card base in half.
Adhere the 4 x 5 ¼ Bermuda Bay to card base.
Layer and adhere the Whisper White stamped poppies to card base.
Cut the 3 ¾ Bermuda Bay square diagonally to create odd shaped triangles.
Place and adhere triangles in upper left corner and lower right corner leaving center open to reveal the stamped poppies.
Adhere the sentiment panel to the card’s front center.
Adhere the butterfly to the upper left corner using a mini stampin’ dimensional.
Add three pearls to the lower right corner for the finishing touch.

Measurements:

Card Base Whisper White 11 x 4 ¼ score at 5 ½
Poppy Parade 4 x 5 ¼, Poppy Parade 4 x 1 1/8, Bermuda Bay 3 ¾ x 5, Whisper White 3 3/8 x 4 7/8, Whisper White 4 x 7/8

Instructions:

On the Whisper White 3 3/8 x 4 7/8 randomly stamp the feathers using all three colors, Bermuda Bay, Poppy Parade, and Flirty Flamingo inks. Cut this panel into three 1 1/8 strips, keeping them in the order of how they were as a whole piece.
Stamp the sentiment using Poppy Parade ink on the 4 x 7/8 Whisper White.
Fold card base in half.
Adhere the Poppy Parade 4 x 5 ¼ to the card base.
Layer and adhere the Bermuda Bay 3 ¾ x 5 to card base.
Evenly place and adhere the three stamped panels to the card base (Note: make sure they are in the correct order, if they’re not, the card will look out of balance, lol, I’m speaking from experience, having done it myself on this card).
Adhere the sequins to each feather to your liking by using glue dots or liquid glue.
